Hwy. 38 is designed to allow easier access to the Big Bear area during the winter; it gets less snow and isn't as dangerous as Hwy. 330. The benefit to us is that in good weather it provides a much longer drive up or down the mountain than Hwy. 330 does, and is less likely to be filled with cars. Still, this is a popular road to get up and down the mountain with large trucks and campers who don't want to deal with the tight corners and steep climbs of the 330.

The long way up the hill, but when there is little to no traffic this is a very nice drive.
