Soledad Canyon is far from the best road I have driven, but it can serve as a fun alternative to the 14 freeway between Little Tujunga / Sand Canyon and Angeles Forest Hwy. While there isn't exactly a long line of cars clogging this road, there are enough campgrounds and ranches out here to make getting stuck behind a truck and trailer a real possibility. There aren't any passing lanes and very few turnouts so passing can be tricky.

Still, as opposed to the mindless monotony of the freeway this can be a good choice. At just over 22 miles from Sand Canyon to Angeles Forest it is long enough have some fun but not so long that if you get stuck behind traffic your whole day is ruined. If you choose to opt out early, Agua Dolce Canyon Rd. (green on the map) will get you back to the freeway.

Aliso Canyon Rd. makes a better connection to Angeles Forest Highway and is now re-opened.
