I attempted to take this road south from Elizabeth Lake, and with the closure in place I was unable to review the southern section. On the map at least, the southern portion looks as if it runs through a narrow canyon, much like Boquet Canyon Rd. The County has re-opened this road as of 1-13-2006 to all traffic.

The first few miles at the northern end are quite fun as you climb up over a small ridge and then drop down into the town of Green Valley. As soon as you hit the edge of town, however, the speed limit drops from 55mph to 35mph with many warning signs and permanent radar speed displays. They seem quite serious about speeding through this town.

The next 7.5-miles, until you reach the old closure point, are well maintained with good pavement and a 55mph speed limit. There aren't any real curves to deal with, with the exception of a large switchback just south of the aqueduct overhead crossing.

NOTE: Just north of the closure point is an outdoor shooting range that the local Sheriff department seems to utilize. The only two police vehicles I passed in an entire day of driving were both within a few miles of this point.
