Information

Books and maps have been ordered, and even though it is a year away I am looking forward to the journey. I will probably be doing something a bit more local in the Fall of 2008 as a way to “get in shape”. I estimate it should be easy to do 400 miles/day (8 hours averaging 50mph) which would take 6 days to do the entire 2,400 miles. Add a few days for sights along the way and this is an easy week + two weekend trip. As for the return trip I will have to factor in costs to transport the bike back to California and a plane ticket vs. the additional time off to ride back. The current thinking is that we will all rent motorcycles, drop them off in Chicago, and fly home. See the Bike Rental page for more details.

Schedule:
Several of the riders currently planning to go are in college, so the trip will have to be planned around either Spring or Summer break. I figure it will get pretty hot out there in the Southwestern states so hopefully we can make Spring break work - which would put the trip near the end of March or early April of 2009.

Current Riders:
Mike and Sarah S.
Chris and Melody S.
Ivan W.
Craig R.
Michael F.
