I've been thinking about driving or riding Route 66 from end to end for a while now, and after watching Long Way Round I figured it was time to get off my couch and do something about it. I am still in the very early stages of planning but I am scheduling a trip for the Spring of 2009; once I get some more research done regarding the weather in the parts of the country the road travels through I will narrow down the timeline. Hopefully I will have a few riding partners, but I am not planning to turn this in to a major event – no plans to change my career to a tour guide.
Books and maps have arrived, there is a lot of information out there about this road and it may take me a while to sort through it all.
